After the convincing win over Nomads 4 in the last game, the wheels came off for the thirds in this match. As Coach Steve said afterwards, it was a “bad day at the office”.
It started well enough as Ross scored twice to give us a 2-0 lead. However, Bec have apparently been working on pressurising passes in training and it worked - we really struggled to pass the ball around smoothly. Bec’s shots began to drop and at half-time, they had a 6-2 lead.
To make things worse, we let in the first two goals after half-time and had a mountain to climb. But suddenly, we had a hot spell. Chris, Abby, Naobh and I all scored and it was back to 8-6. I then had a running-in shot that had to go in but, after a bit of thought, the nasty yellow plastic spat it back out again. Bec then scored the next two goals and they saw out the match comfortably.
So the thirds drop to third in the table, still level on points with the leaders Croydon 3, but having played two games more. The next game is at home again against Bec 5.
Team: Ross (2), Chris (1), Abby (1), Nicola, Naobh (1), Joanna, Andy and me (1)
