The Birthday Bash!

Nicola, Woody, Anna and Mark all share vaguely similar birthdays (date wise anyway, we wonīt go into how old everyone is...) and the annual Supernova birthday bash was on October 4th this year, at a stylish Southbank venue called The Founders Arms. Naturally the weather let us down and we were subjected to torrential rain and we couldnīt take much advantage over the lovely balcony over looking the Thames.

There was beer, wine, vodka, cocktails flowing a-plently and an excellent turn out for Novans who made us birthday boys and girls feel very popular.

I would love to write more about it. But to be honest, I donīt remember that much and I am not convinced many other people do either. Sign of a good time had by all...but it makes a pretty rubbish social report. Sorry.

Nicola lost her Oystercard somewhere on the bus between Elephant & Castle and Balham. She also lost her umbrella, but acquired someone elseīs courtesy of the bar staff, broke her watch by smashing it on something somewhere, gained a frying pan (!) and gained some people to stay over in her flat. Woody gained a wok (!) and was running around Southbank bashing people over the head with it.

Nicola tried to get the bar staff to ID her when she bought a drink, but they werenīt having any of it so she feared she had lost that youthful look. Ummm... Finally she did persuade one barman to ask for ID in front of some new Novans who were none the wiser to her plan, who, much to her delight seemed (in her drunken haze) to believe she had just been ID-ed...

Nicola sheepishly meeting Lornaīs boyfriend again who she had been talking to on the tube a couple of weeks earlier, only it hadnīt actually been Lornaīs boyfriend at all and instead was just some guy who had tried to chat her up and had no idea who Lorna was or what korfball was about and probably thought she was a total weirdo by the end of the conversation. (Best not ask).

Woody and co. wanting to go back to South London and getting in a dodgy mincab outside a random bar. 6 people got into the smallest minicab in the world. Anna was sitting on Pete and Valerie was sitting on Woody all the way back. Valerie then decided that she was far too scared to be dropped out anywhere but her front door but she didn't quite remember how to get to her house and so everyone spent ages circling around Stockwell, which is just what you want to be doing at 3am...
