I think this game could be summarised with: Great defence, shame about the shooting.
The morning started with Anna G lost in public transport hell. Up comes 1st team debutant Hannah. We quickly went into a 2 goals lead thanks to medium shots from Becky and Nicola. Trojans quickly came back to 2-2. Unlike the previous game, the attacks were more purposeful and we had lots of good chances. Shame we didn’t take the chances. Defence was still pretty good but as we couldn’t score, we were down 5-2 at half time.
In the second half, Anna came on for Hannah and gave a lovely pass to Mark for him to score. 5-3 game on. But we were still in barn door mode. Trojans continued to score on the odd occasions. Becky, leading by example, scored again for us but we lost at the end 9-4.
I believe that we could have won this game if our shooting percentages have been higher. We must have close to 40 shots in the game and we scored 4 (including about 0 out of 10 from within a metre from the post!). Shooting practice for everyone on Wednesday! On the plus side, the defence is still good and the attack is looking better by the game. Still plenty of room for improvement but definitely going in the right direction.
A special well done to Hannah, who was thrown into the deep end at short notice and did a great job!
