Wimbledon may be in full swing and Glasto is over for another year but the main event of summer 2015 is yet to come!

Supernova summer training kicks off on Monday 6th July. This is your chance to dust off your trainers and stretch those muscles before the season begins in September. For new players, come along and give Korfball a go! Last summer we had loads of new players trying summer korf before joining the club at the start of season – it’ll be lots of fun, with plenty of time to play games and get your head around the rules. And it’s free!

Our training will run through July, before we join the annual Balham Astrokorf tournament in August. Details below:

Victoria Park – July

  • Where?

Victoria Park, E3 5TB, West side of the park – directions below.

  • When?

Starting Monday 6th July, every Monday until 3rd August. 7pm until everyone is ready to hit the nearest pub!

  • What?

Depending on numbers, we’ll do a mix of training drills and games but with the emphasis very much on fun. Perfect for anyone wanting to try it out. This training will be free to all.

  • How do I get there?

The nearest tube station is Bethnal Green which is on the central line. A friendly Novan will be waiting outside Bethnal Green station until 6 45pm every Monday to meet people who aren’t sure of the route – look out for the blue and yellow hoodie.

If you want to make your own way there, you intrepid explorer you, then there’s a map of roughly where in Victoria Park we will be and the walking route from Bethnal Green.

Balham Astro – August

  • When?

Balham training will start on Wednesday 29th July – the exact times to be determined but likely to be from 7pm.

  • Where?

Balham Astro, Chestnut Grove Academy, SW12 8JZ.

  • What?

This fun outdoor tournament is aimed primarily at getting beginners playing, although teams generally have some experienced players. It’s organised by PlayKorfball for all London players, so look forward to socialising with other clubs! The teams will be mixed rather then club specific, to encourage mingling and make teams of similar strength. As this training is run outside of the club, there is likely to be a small fee of £3-4 per session.

  • How do I get there?

The school is 2 minutes from Balham tube station on the northern line. Entrance to the outdoor pitches is via Boundaries Road. When you arrive, ask for anyone from Supernova – at least one of us will be wearing the blue and yellow kit – or Liam Clarke who is organising the tournament.
