The firsts headed away on a dark Sunday evening to play Croydon 1, one of the best teams in the LRL. Due to the timing of the match we were down a few players but Croydon were also missing a few of their regulars. Croydon opened the scoring with 4 quick goals, with Supernova starting to catch up after a tough first 10 minutes. A quick time out Coach Dinos gave us some words of wisdom and we stepped up, trading goal for goal and coming close to overtaking Croydon many times.
A man of the match performance by Rob Wilson and some great long range shooting by Rob Winn got Croydon worried, calling a frantic time out. Croydon managed to stay ahead of us despite a strong performance with most players getting on the scoreboard – the game finished 22-16 to Croydon.
A big thanks to everyone who stayed to sub or support – and a great first team debut for John Coughlan. Having fought hard against a strong team SN1 round out 2014 with their heads held high.
